On Wednesday, June 22nd, we will be having a special general assembly to vote on a motion to merge the bargaining units of research assistants and research associates. The motion has been submitted by the executive due to the fact that these two units effectively function as one in all all aspects of union activities with McGill.
The general assembly will be at noon on Wednesday, July 22nd at the AMURE offices, in 517 Avenue Des Pins Ouest. Lunch will be provided.
Please find the motion below.
WHEREAS AMURE has a bargaining unit for research associates and another unit for research assistants; and
WHEREAS the collective agreements for these two units are almost word for word identical and AMURE bargained jointly for these two units at the same time with McGill and has meetings with McGill concerning all aspects of the two bargaining units simultaneously; and
WHEREAS having one bargaining unit would be in line with how currently AMURE functions internally and with AMUREs relationship with McGill.
BE IT RESOLVED that AMURE/PSAC petition the quebec labour commission to merge the research assistant and research associate bargaining units.
All members are encouraged to come and vote on this motion!
