AMURE allocates a portion of its savings every year to help fund people, organizations, and projects that it believes are deserving of financial support. This funding can be divided into two different kinds.
SOLIDARITY FUNDS
Solidarity funds are reserved to help finance projects and events spearheaded by organizations outside of AMURE, but with whom we share a similar set of values and principles. In order to be given access to these funds, the applicant must meet some of the following criteria:
- Serve to further the goals of AMURE, unionization at McGill, and the labour movement in general
- Be aligned with other social causes that AMURE supports
- Operate under a framework of anti-oppression and social justice
- Positively affect the community at McGill or others elsewhere in Montreal
Please note that solidarity funds are dispersed at the discretion of AMURE’s executive and board of representatives; however, we encourage you to contact us with a description of your project and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
HARDSHIP FUNDS
A certain portion of AMURE’s savings is also allocated to give our members financial support in times of hardship. A variety of circumstances (medical problem, house fire, termination) may qualify you to receive this support. As with the solidarity funds, hardship funds will be dispersed at the discretion of AMURE executive and board of representatives, but please don’t hesitate to contact us to apply.
